Citizenship
Naturalization, the process of becoming a U.S. citizen, involves many steps and requirements. To achieve a favorable result for your case, you need an attorney who is familiar with the difficulties of this immigration process. At Kublan Khan PLC, we have a proven track record of successfully assisting our clients with their applications for naturalization.
People come to the U.S. for several different reasons but for many it is a chance to live a better life and provide more opportunities for their children. Some are looking for employment; others have relatives already living in the U.S. Still others are fleeing persecution at home and are seeking refuge status in the U.S. Even business individuals come to the U.S., looking for opportunities to invest here and build the economy. The team at Kublan Khan PLC helps many clients who wish to become citizens of the United States. Our experienced attorneys can deftly guide you through the immigration process from start to finish. In order to be eligible for citizenship, though, several important requirements must normally be satisfied. In general, you MUST:
- Be 18 years or older;
- Be a Lawful Permanent Resident for the required period of time;
- Be physically present in the U.S. and continuously reside here for the required length of time;
- Be a resident in the state where you are filing the application for at least three months
- Be a person of good moral character
It is crucial for you to have an attorney who understands the complexities of immigration law to attend all your interviews with an immigration officer and to ensure your application and documents are filed correctly and on time. Unless unable to do so due to a physical or mental disability or exempt from this requirement due to age, applicants for naturalization must take two short tests on their understanding and knowledge of the English language and American civics. Only after you complete all of these steps will you be asked to take an oath of loyalty to the United States and become a citizen.
